HP VH240a For Gaming
This monitor has 5ms response time and faster response time feature which is perfect to play a game. The only thing you want to do is after gaming you will need to switch the option back to the default one whenever you are finished with your game.
The IPS screen is really good when you use it for viewing or watching movies. The pictures look crystal clear and have bright colors. The IPS screen gives you well-defined details in each angle of your screen.
Although it won’t give you the best color in the world, but for watching and streaming movies, this monitor has very acceptable quality.
If you are a professional user
If you are a digital professional and want to use it for more color accuracy computing tasks, consider this. For any tasks that require more accurate colors and a wide range of color choices such as AdobeRGB, sRGB, and so forth, consider other monitors, for example, the monitor as shown in the picture below.
This HP VH240a monitor has a decent 60Hz screen refresh rate and 72% sRGB. It is more than adequate for home office work and students. But if you are professional in digital illustration, you will need to spend more.
The 1920x1080p screen resolution with matte (not glossy) finish looks all big with those thin bezels. Without the frame, or if you are in a full-screen mode, you will have slightly under 24 inches diagonal sized screen.
Portrait & Landscape Adjustments

HP VH240a 23.8-inch Full HD 1080p IPS LED Monitor with Built-in Speakers and VESA Mounting, Rotating Portrait & Landscape, Tilt, and HDMI & VGA Ports (1KL30AA) – Black
There are also features that enable you to customize the height. For instance, to tilt, swivel including 90-degrees portrait orientation. There is also the included stand, which you can rarely find on a monitor at this price range. This ability to adjust the orientation is a great feature for the home office. Such as working with numbers, codes, and documents.
You can also adjust the height to be as low as 3.5 inches from your table. Check out its support link on how to do adjust your monitor.
This HP VH240a monitor comes with a height-adjustable slide-in stand, but you still can mount it if you want to. For mounting, this monitor includes the 100×100 VESA standard mounting pattern which supports the numerous 100mm mounts and the third party stands that are available on the market.
Connectivity

HP VH240a 23.8-inch Full HD 1080p IPS LED Monitor with Built-in Speakers and VESA Mounting, Rotating Portrait & Landscape, Tilt, and HDMI & VGA Ports (1KL30AA) – Black
As for connectivity, you will have the right to the point connection, as it comes with HDMI 1.4 port. (it comes with HDMI cables too). However, if you still need the VGA port, it is there too. It does not include VGA cable though, in case you need it you will need to purchase it separately, which is very cheap, like around 5 bucks.
To connect your laptop to this HP VH240a is super easy. Just connect your laptop with the monitor via the HDMI cable and you will be able to use your laptop with the monitor. Once you are connected and logging in to your Windows, right-click your desktop to go to the Windows display setting. In the Windows display setting, you can adjust your monitor to match your laptop. Super easy.
If you have a MacBook Pro and want to use this monitor as your screen, you will need a USB-C (Thunderbolt 3) to HDMI adapter as shown in the picture below.
The 2 watts built-in Speakers
This HP VH240a has integrated speakers built-in. The speakers are 2 watts per channel speakers, which does not produce the best audio in the world, but no other monitors at this price point include speakers.
You wouldn’t buy it for the speaker’s quality but for the image quality. To increase the quality of the speaker, you can raise the volume by going to the volume properties. Right-click on your speaker volume and raise the sound up from this setting. By default, the volume is about 72%.
If you wish to turn the speaker off, you will find the audio setting button next to your power button, and switch on/off the integrated speakers from this setting.
For gaming, you may want to consider getting external speakers like this one;
