Meet the Acer Nitro 5 AN515-45-R92M with Ryzen 7 5800H and RTX 3060 GPU.
Acer Nitro 5 line is very consistent to be a contender amongst other popular brands in its category. This guy we are reviewing here is no exception.
So if you want to have a 15.6″ gaming laptop that is rocking with the latest AMD Ryzen 7 CPU generation, and the beefy RTX 3060 GPU, as well as the 16GB of RAM out of the box, give consideration to this one.
Exterior Design
The design of this laptop is not much different than its predecessor. The overall design of this laptop still looks clean. Compared to the big brother, the Helios 300, this even looks cleaner without that glowing logo in the middle, which we appreciate.

The shape of this laptop together with the cleanness of the chassis makes this device looks fine to our eye. It just looks like what it is, a 15-inch gaming laptop. And despite being a gaming laptop, you can surprisingly open the lid up with one hand. Look for a more lightweight notebook that isn’t made for gaming? Have a look at this one.

Pros & Cons | VIEW |
So our guy here is rocking the latest AMD’s Ryzen 7 CPU generation, the Ryzen 7 5800H. There is also the dedicated NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 GPU under the hood. We also have 16GB of RAM, which is more than enough to handle your everyday computing tasks. There is also an option to upgrade the memory should you need it in the future. Acer also enables you to add your own storage in the empty slots if needed.
Beast CPU!
The AMD Ryzen 7 5800H CPU inside the AN515-45-R92M is the beast in its class. Being released at the beginning of this year (2021) it becomes the latest generation of the Ryzen 7. Hence it is still quite rare to find laptops with this CPU to this day (when we wrote this review).
This processor chip is based on Cezanne generation and was developed in the 7nm TSMC process. Its new Zen 3 microarchitecture brought over significantly higher Instructions Per Clock or IPC and higher clock speed versus the Zen 2. Due to this fact, this new Ryzen 7 chip performs faster than its predecessor.
Coming in with the 8-Cores/16-Threads, and the ability to turbo boost up to 4.4 GHz, this chip blows away some of Intel’s CPU (when we wrote this review). For example, Intel’s 10th Generation of i7 (i7-10875H, and 10870H), or even the 10th Generation of Intel Core i9-10980HK. For the Geekbench benchmark, view it on this page.

This CPU coupled with the RTX 3060 Graphics is capable to process all of your demanding PC tasks and also gaming. If having a device with the older GPU (no RTX) is OK for you, have a look at this one here.

AN515-45-R92M’s Screen & I/O
The 15.6″ Full-HD IPS display that comes along with this AN515-45-R92M has 144Hz screen refresh rates. It offers a smoother gaming performance on your screen. See the following video on how the 144Hz has fewer stuttering issues in shooting or hunting games.
The Full-HD 1920×1080 screen resolution gives you larger or more accurate viewing angles. There is also an HD webcam on the top bezel of the display so that you can chat, Zoom, or Skype with your friends or family. Get this if you want a 17-inch Nitro 5 model, and this one if you don’t want to have a webcam on your gaming device.
This Acer Nitro 5 Ryzen 7 5800H laptop has also got nice peripherals that you need, a new generation and high-speed HDMI 2.1, three USB 3.2 Type-A ports, one of which is the Gen 2 Type-A port which has up to 10Gbps transfer rate. In addition to these ports, there is also one SuperSpeed USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C with up to 10Gbps transfer rate as well (No Thunderbolt).
The audio jack and network RJ-45 ethernet port are also included. The ethernet port will enhance your gaming experience by providing more steady internet connectivity.
Trendy LED Keyboard
In today’s trend, Acer does not disappoint us, this 2021 Acer Nitro 5 15″ comes with a backlit keyboard. For “night-owl” users, this backlit keyboard is a nice additional feature.

The keyboard has 4-Zone RGB backlighting rather than just a single-zone RGB, and a numeric keypad. If the lighting is bothering you, you can always turn the LED lights off.
The trackpad, even though it is not a glass trackpad, features Windows precision and has good feedback. For gaming, however, using an external mouse is preferable and is more convenient.
Our Thoughts
In terms of a great ratio between the performance, value, and price, Acer really hit the sweet spot with this machine. Supported by the latest AMD Ryzen 7 chip, a dedicated RTX GPU, and the pre-installed 16GB of RAM, this laptop packs a punch while being able to keep the price competitive.
The 512GB SSD instead of 256GB, the backlit keyboard, and the SuperSpeed USB C are really fine features that we can’t underestimate.
To sum up, any gaming laptop with higher specs would be twice the price. It’s really tough to beat this Acer Nitro 5 AN515-45-R92M, as we experience a severe shortage of computer chips.
Mine is almost the same as yours, but it has a Geforce GTX card and runs on Windows 11.
I am going to need this for my study~
Is waiting for the 2022 version worthwhile? do you know when it will be released? Should I just acquire the i5 11400h with the rtx 3050ti right now?
Just got mine
