Pros & Cons | VIEW |
Design-wise, this newer 17.3 inch Acer Nitro 5 RTX 2060 model looks pretty nice, and has a good deal of outputs and inputs, including the ethernet port and HDMI, together with many USB ports. It is not the bulkiest gaming laptop out there, it is a gaming device designed with many vents to help reducing heat while you are gaming.
The screen is a full-HD 1080p 17.3 inch panel with 144Hz refresh rates. This is perfect for gaming, especially if you like playing shooters.

If you compare to each other, there isn’t a significant difference between 144 Hz and a 240 Hz display. But, you’ll see a huge difference between 144Hz and a 60 Hz panel. In short, gamers need any screen above 60 Hz, to have smoother frame rates. And the graphics of this laptop can handle those frame rates.
Performance
Now, enough with the specs talk, now we move on with the performance of the AN517-51-76V6. First off, the processor, the amount of dual-channel memory, and the Graphics card of a gaming laptop are the most crucial features to game.
Can you play Crysis 3 or GTA V?
This Acer Nitro 5 AN517-51-76V6 packs the 9th Gen i7 6-Cores/12-Threads processor which has a 2.6 GHz base frequency and whooping 4.50 GHz maximum Turbo frequency. It is a high-end laptops’ processor that alone costs more than 300 bucks.
The fast processor, coupled with the massive 16 GB dual-channel RAM and the NVIDIA RTX 2060 GPU enables you to play 2021 games. Recent games like GTA V or Crysis 3 will run clean at 1080p and on a maximum level. Also, the Ray-Tracing feature will be beneficial to play games like Cyberpunk 2077 at 1080p with the DLSS activated.
Is this AN517-51-76V6 getting super hot?
Super hot, no. But this AN517-51-76V6 has a pretty noteworthy cooling system. Thanks to the heatsinks that are built inside the laptop.

The first heatsink covers almost the entire laptop, and the second heatsink is located next to the first one. This is pretty impressive considering the price range for 17-inch gaming laptops.
The 256GB storage
Now we will discuss the storage of this laptop. The AN517-51-76V6 comes with a pre-installed 256GB SSD drive. It is sufficient for daily computing, streaming, and also for gaming. However, I’d prefer to have more space for gaming. However, if you don’t mind uninstalling and re-installing your games then you will be fine with the 256GB storage.
So for those who want to have more space for the storage, you can upgrade the storage. Thanks to Acer, this unit comes with upgrade tools (bracket and cable). When you open it up, you will have 2 extra empty slots to install your M.2 SSD or a 2.5-inch SSD.

There are many options if you don’t want to expand the storage of the AN517-51-76V6 yourself. First is, you can go to the PC technician nearby, but this route will cost you money
The second option, you can plug in an external hard drive, they are very fast and reliable these days. It’s just less convenient than if you install an additional 1TB or more into the empty slots of your laptop. But just to let you know, that you can use an external HDD for more drive space.
The last option is, get another laptop that has more storage, and similar specs and prices.

Should you get this AN517-51-76V6?
If you really want to have a 17-inch laptop with the RTX 2060 GPU and 16GB RAM without upgrading, then this laptop is worth buying. Especially when you can upgrade the SSD or using an external SSD, this laptop is very affordable and yet it has a monster specification.
