Dell G3 3500 15 gaming laptop, i3500-5552BLK-PUS with 10th Gen Intel i5-10300H and GTX 1650 Ti review. Is this laptop a good value or better to get another one in its price range? Let’s find it out.
To start this review, let’s talk about the form factor and the appearance first. The laptop comes with an eclipse black unibody with a clean metallic Dell logo on the top cover. There are also minimal blue accent lines spread on some areas of the device.
In terms of material, Dell made the entire laptop with plastic, but it feels solid nonetheless. The build material even helps to cut down the weight, and it gives a premium look. When you open the lid, the first thing you will immediately notice is the elegant-looking blue-ish theme. Overall build quality is pretty good for its price, and it does not have those exaggerated gaming attributes.

When it comes to the weight, I’d say, it is not especially light, but it is quite sleek for gaming on the go, it has a little weight. Then again, it is a gaming laptop, don’t expect an office laptop.

When it comes to the performance of a laptop, it will depend on many components inside. For example, how powerful your CPU is, the RAM amount and speed, the laptop’s cooling system, etc. And this Dell Gaming G3 15 3500 1650 Ti has that good combination.
A Good Combo of Power
This laptop runs on the 10th Generation of Intel i5 CPU the quad-core i5-10300H to be specific. This chip is capable of supporting Hyperthreading, Virtualization, Optan technologies and is energy-efficient for powerhouse laptops.
For its price, having this chip in this Dell i3500-5552BLK-PUS 15″ is something that we need to appreciate. Compared to its predecessor which is the 9th Gen of i5 (i5-9300H) this CPU brought over many improvements. See the table below for the CPU frequency speed improvement, and the benchmark. This is a significant update when we talk about a processor.
i5-10300H | i5-9300H | |
Base Frequency | 2.50GHz | 2.40GHz |
Max. Turbo Frequency | 4.50GHz | 4.40GHz |
Memory Types | 2933MHz | 2666MHz |

How Capable is GTX 1650 Ti
The new 10th Gen CPU chip combined with a dual-channel 8GB of RAM and a dedicated NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 Ti is a good combination for daily computing jobs, programming, and gaming. No need to spend time upgrading this gaming laptop for that more than average performance, although the option to upgrade is there. It is always good to have this upgrade option with your device.
This Graphics card is capable to play most of the modern PC games with medium and high settings Full-HD resolution (1080p) at a respectable 60 FPS. Many AAA titles are even playable on lower settings at 60 FPS with the same 1080p resolution with no bottlenecks.
See the graphics below;
Overall, the combination of the components of this laptop is a good one. This said we are not saying that you can play every game. We want to emphasize that you won’t be able to play any games with Ray-Tracing on, as the GPU is not an RTX graphics. The RTX laptops will cost double the price or a few hundred bucks more. The cheapest we can find is this one from Lenovo (about 300 bucks more) and this one, almost the same model as we are reviewing here (also from Dell) but with RTX 2060 GPU. Note: prices can change unexpectedly.
But if you just want to play Cyberpunk 2077 and Watch Dogs Legion as well as other 2020 games and older this Dell 15 1650 Ti gaming laptop can run them well. This is the best part, that you can play Ray-Traced game titles as well on this laptop by disabling the RTX.
No More Good Values?
We are talking about a 700-ish gaming laptop. The manufacturer of this laptop has to sacrifice many things, including the plastic unibody, which to some people it is not appealing. However, this laptop also comes with many good things. Let’s go into them.
Spacious 512GB SSD
One of many good things about this Dell 15-inch gaming laptop is it comes with a spacious 512GB SSD rather than 256GB. The more expensive laptop that we have previously mentioned only comes with less space of SSD, which is 256GB.
Having an SSD on a laptop is a great thing these days. There are still modern laptops that come with traditional HDDs, which can be bottlenecks. We always recommend our users to get a laptop with an SSD inside. And 512GB is a better amount of storage, unlike 256GB. Moreover, this laptop gives you the possibility to expand the storage and memory later down the road, so it’s good at this point.
Super Smooth Display
The Dell Gaming G3 15 3500 with 10th Gen i5-10300H comes with a non-touch 120Hz 15.6″ IPS display. Go here if you want a touchscreen Dell laptop (not a gaming device).
Getting a 120Hz screen at this price is a steal! The competitor, which costs about a few hundred bucks more, only has a 60Hz screen refresh rate. And the video below demonstrates how a 120Hz can make a difference while gaming, you will get less stuttering, smoother gameplay.
Furthermore, it is an IPS display with Full-HD 1920×1080 screen resolution which will give you better viewing angles, ideal if you want to share what is on your screen with your friends or business colleagues. Other than that, it is 250 nits screen with a two-sided thin bezel with a 720 HD webcam on the top. The anti-glare coating of the display prevents the user from getting eye-strain problems for long-session gaming or streaming activities.

Backlit Keyboard
The keyboard of this i3500-5552BLK-PUS laptop is a single-zone backlit keyboard with tactile full-sized keys. There is also a number pad on the right to help you do your data sheets with numbers. Moreover, the keyboard will light up in blue color which is really convenient for you to game or work at night.

The touchpad is pretty decent with its size, supports Windows precision driver, and does its job. It is not the best one in the market, but we’ve seen worse touchpads in the more expensive devices.
Solid Ports Selection
For the ports and connectivity, this Dell G3 15 gaming laptop surprisingly, comes with a good selection of ports. You will get 1x HDMI 2.0, 1x SuperSpeed USB 3.2 Gen 1, 1x USB-C DisplayPort Alt-Mode, 2x SuperSpeed USB 2.0 ports.
There are also 1x Headset Jack, 1x standard SD Card slot, 1x Wedge lock Slot, and 1x RJ45 Ethernet port.
We appreciate the Ethernet port which is very useful to play or stream games whenever the wireless connection is not the best.
Will it be the right choice?
If you don’t expect a perfect gaming laptop, yes, this is a great choice of all-rounder laptop. This device is most likely the best machine with a good combination of 10th Gen CPU, screen, and RAM that you could buy. It handles computing and gaming tasks with an extraordinary performance at a very reasonable price.
Like we mentioned earlier, even more expensive gaming laptops still have a lower refresh rate of the display. So if you want to play games with high-quality graphics on your screen without spending 1k USD, this is the one. We hope the price of this laptop won’t increase soon, as it often happens with the laptops price, when they are out, the price is low but it keeps increasing.
On top of that, the expansion possibility is also an awesome addition.
in stock - high demand
All in all, just go for it at this price, this Dell Gaming G3 15 3500 i3500-5552BLK-PUS model is well worth it.
