Can you game?

For light casual gaming, absolutely. Apple decided to ditch Intel processors from their lineups. Although Intel chips are not bad, they often have overheating problems. The new Apple’s M1 processor chip is amazingly fast. It’s more than sufficient to handle productivity and entertainment purposes, as well as casual gaming, yet very power efficient.

It is more than capable to play Minecraft, The Sim 4 with its expansions, LoL, WoW, and many more games. It will run games that require a dedicated Graphics card that is typically included only on gaming laptops. And without draining battery life in an hour, or becoming overheated, unreal!

Apple M1 CPU Benchmark compared with Intel i7
M1 chip outperforms 11th Gen i7 CPU

The M1’s integrated GPU outperforms mobile NVIDIA dedicated Graphics the GeForce GTX 1050 (and the Ti version). The NVIDIA equivalent GPU would be the GeForce GTX 1650, but in a better-sized laptop with a fantastic screen and battery life.

But keep in mind though that Apple did not design this machine specifically for intensive gaming, so if you need a laptop for mainly gaming, opt for a dedicated gaming laptop.

The M1 Chip is powerful, however, it does not have dedicated VRAM (Video RAM). This means the performance of your gaming sessions will solely rely on your laptop’s factory RAM. So if you use it for heavy gaming, you will need to order the one with more RAM. Hence a gaming laptop would be a better option for intensive gaming purposes.

Where else does MGN73LL/A shine?

The revolutionary performance of the M1 CPU, fantastic design, and fast performance make this MacBook Air model unbeatable. There are a lot of 1k+ laptops on the market that are still louder, weaker, and felt cheaper than this machine we have on this review.

Furthermore, let’s take a look quickly, what else does revolutionize this laptop.

Less Charging!

That’s right, those days where you need to lug around your charger wherever you carry your laptop with you are gone. This is where this Apple MacBook Air MGN73LL/A shines, its unreal battery life. The M1 processor is powerful yet power-efficient.

Slim yet has powerful specs like vibrant retina display, and long battery life, a true travel companion

For light and intermediate usage, the battery life can easily last a few days, yes, days! You can’t get that long battery life with standard laptops, let alone a gaming laptop.

A Silent Device!

Other than the excellent battery life, this laptop houses the M1 Chip which is very powerful yet able to keep the balance between performance and power efficiency. And because this CPU needs very low power, the device won’t get hot and does not need a cooling fan. When use to edit video or play games, it will be slightly warm, but not warm enough that it will damage the hardware or warm up your coffee.

No cooling fan means no noise, so this MGN73LL/A can handle your PC tasks as silent as a mouse. It is a very silent device. If you are used to those loud laptops, you will need some time to get used to it, this little machine is insanely silent!

Moreover, if you make presentations often, a silent laptop will help a lot.

Brilliant Retina Display

Apple’s screens are famous for their quality.

Not only do they have better screen resolution than a full-HD screen, but they also have excellent brightness, color reproduction, calibration, and viewing angles. Compared to a standard screen, Retina displays offer higher pixel density, meaning every element appear sharper on Mac’s screen. The images, text, icons, you name it, all look clear and sharp. The difference is HUGE, like seeing graphics on DVD vs VHS, once you have it, you won’t want to go back.

The higher the pixel density a screen has, the sharper graphics it can appear. If you are a photographer, a Retina display can display your pictures in their true colors. Apple’s competitors try to increase their screen quality, but Apple’s Retina display is just the best, and this Mac Air M1 MGN73LL/A model has it. It comes with a vibrant 13.3″ Retina Display IPS display with a 2560 x 1600 aspect ratio, and 100% DCI-P3 color gamut.

If you are looking for a 17-inch laptop, check out this Acer Aspire 5, a decent Windows-based laptop, or this 15-inch HP laptop.

Helpful Touch ID

You’ve probably heard about a Fingerprint reader. In Windows-based laptops, some of them have Fingerprint readers, Apple calls them Touch ID on their Macbooks. It is a method of logging into your computer using biometric security without typing passcodes or passwords. This said you can use the built-in Touch ID to get into your desktop in seconds. If you use your Mac daily, it is much more convenient to use the Touch ID. However, you can disable this feature if you don’t want to use it.

Touch ID on the world-class backlit keyboard

It’s just less hassle for some users to use their fingerprint to access all of their accounts rather than the different characters of passwords.

Other Helpful Features

The MGN73LL/A has an outstanding keyboard and unparalleled trackpad in terms of build and materials quality. The trackpad is large and smooth, I still think it’s one of the best-designed trackpads.

If there’s one thing that stood out most, it’s going to be the keyboard. Yes, it’s fast and looks great, but the keyboard feels so good to type on.

The keyboard itself has backlit, and solid chiclet keys. It is not only looking great but also so responsive, super quiet, and has a very tactile feeling, it actually helps you to be more productive, the typing experience is tremendously comfortable. If you like to type faster, you will like the accuracy of the keyboard, as it is higher than any other laptops keyboard on the market.

Want to set up a second or third monitor? No problem, you can use one of its two Thunderbolt ports by connecting it to a dongle like the Dell D6000 dock or the WAVLINK docking station.

Is it really too pricey?

The MacBook Air is Apple’s entry-level lineup, it is more affordable than the MacBook Pro family or Windows-based laptops for similar specs, and it has superior quality and durability. For the battery life, this one also blows Windows-based laptops out of the water. This MGN73LL/A is one of Apple’s incredible products, the amount of features, especially the new M1 chip at its price is simply a great purchase.

It’s more affordable if you go with a monthly payment. The slim and lightweight form factor and long battery life are the additional features that make this laptop very helpful for school, college, or even work. You can carry it everywhere without being worried about finding a power outlet, as this is the only excellent device that has a battery life that can keep up with all-day-long computing tasks.

In short, for what you are getting, this laptop is not too pricey, it is one worth investment that won’t stop bringing returns.

Conclusion

This Mac Air M1 is no doubt an excellent slim laptop. The new M1 processor is powerful yet very energy efficient so it can give you incredibly long battery life. This chipset also operates at a ridiculously low temperature so it does not need any fans which also means it performs in absolute silence. Its competitors do not stand a chance to match this phenomenal portable laptop.

Furthermore, it is made from aluminum yet very lightweight and has a beautiful retina display and a world-class keyboard. Apple has just not revolutionized its MacBook Air lineups with its M1 chip, but also turned the laptop market upside down!
